Dr. Ashley Welch

I am a clinical psychologist with both a Masters and a Doctoral degree from Antioch University, New England.  My practice includes clients of all ages, and I provide short-term and extended psychotherapy to individuals and families dealing with anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, ADHD, relationship and family difficulties, trauma, grief, loss, self-esteem challenges, body-image issues, and Autism. I will always listen to and guide you with compassion and thoughtfulness.

My clinical experience has been widely inclusive. I held a yearlong internship at Foundations of Behavioral Health, an inpatient facility in Pennsylvania, where I provided individual, group, and family therapy to children and adolescents and their families. I did pre-Doctoral training at Y.O.U., Inc., a residential, community-based acute treatment center, in Massachusetts, where I provided individual and group therapy, case management, psychological assessment, and crisis management. Additionally, I provided therapy to students in elementary schools. These multiple settings enhanced my development as an integrative therapist. Now, in treating my clients facing trauma, social issues, emotional disabilities, Autism and various behavioral disorders, I utilize therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and Trauma Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CB-CBT).

My clients have ranged from ages seven to sixty-five, and the scope of my clinical expertise is broad and varied. I love working with individuals with developmental delays. I also find great pleasure in treating, through narrative therapy, healthy-functioning adults who want to process how events stemming from their childhood affect their lives today. And, I work with many teens dealing with the challenges of anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and/or difficult family dynamics. I am particularly interested in working with children diagnosed with Autism. I discovered this passion well before I embarked on my career in Psychology when, as a teen, I baby-sat for an Autistic child. I have a special, natural affinity with children. They warm up to me easily and quickly, and that feeling extends to their parents and caretakers, as well. For them, my relationship with their child brings out a deeper understanding of the factors affecting that child’s behaviors. In order to help children connect with me, I employ various combinations of play therapy, reading, art and music therapy, and puppets, among others. Every connection I make with a child rewards me beyond measure.

My warm, nurturing nature fits in perfectly with my professional colleagues at Comprehensive Counseling Connections. Like them, I treat every one of my clients with warmth, respect, cultural sensitivity, compassion, patience and understanding.
